old ... is it gold

you know you are growing old when

• your hair starts greying
• you get a belly and are not worried about it
• seeing couples roaming around in parks you comment 'whats becoming of this generation'
• everyone you meet seems to be concerned about your marriage.
• kids start calling you uncle instead of bhaiya or 'annayya'

and as Horace said 'Natales grate numeras?' -- do you count your birthdays with gratitude ..

for me the first and the last two apply .. my hair has started greying , ppl .. relatives, friends and neighbours all seem to be concerned about my marriage. and kids (kids ???) call me uncle now :)

hair greying is not an issue at all .. well that means now i am eligible to use 'yeh baal dhoop mein safed nahin kiye' phrase. :) but when someone calls you uncle it must be that atleast they are of your age or less than your age... recently two incidents broke that rule.

the first one was a autorickshaw driver.. he found the change given by me insufficient and calls out to me loudly 'ankul'.... in a typical andhra accent..this guy apparently looked in his fifties... :(

then there was this lady sitting beside me in the train. she kept calling me 'anna' (elder brother ). and she was much older than that autowallah .

i guess i may not remain an eligible bachelor for long ...:) life till now was spent worrying about studies ...then job .. responsibilities at home ... craze to do good solid work .. and now when the mind and heart started asking for a partner... i am 'ankul' :P
